↪ About
Jessica Madavo and Phoenix Yemi for Ayvan Black Star is about immersing yourself in the unknown. The photography, along with the poems scattered throughout the book, are a testament to opening your heart to the present moment. Taken during the artist's time in Senegal, the images encapsulate the transformative experience of movement, discovery and unfamiliarity. Jessica Madavo is a photographer based in London who works across art, fashion and commerce. She is not interested in her work being defined. Phoenix Yemi is a Nigerian-British poet currently based in London. She runs a weekly poetry newsletter 365 Days of Poetry and Honesty.
